Browse Adair County Police Blotter

An Adair County police blotter collects reported arrests across several days. It does not track everyone currently held at the county jail. Dated feeds from newspapers and the highway patrol keep an arrest on record. The record survives even after release. The official roster, by contrast, answers a narrower custody question. Search by source and date first. Then confirm the person, agency, and case. Timing shifts across weekends and holidays, so the same arrest can surface on different days. Anyone searching who was arrested in Adair County should treat the blotter as a starting point. It is not a live jail count.

Adair Police Blotter Sources

The sheriff's office publishes no weekly Adair County blotter. It offers no set date range or searchable archive either. For current custody, the live JailTracker roster is the official route. A wider arrest log has to come from dated reports with clearly named publishers. No single outlet carries the county's full arrest history.

Three sources stand out for multi-day coverage. The Kirksville Daily Express runs a police blotter. Two newspaper sites also republish Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B arrest reports. Those reports are filtered to Adair County. Entries can include people already released or with unknown status. They are publications, not jail rosters. They also never replace the arresting agency's file or the court docket.

SourceScope and limit
Adair JailTrackerOfficial current-custody view, not a multi-day archive.
Kirksville Daily ExpressRecurring city police blotter shown in dated print/PDF issues; no guaranteed current cadence.
Atlanta MissourianAdair-filtered MSHP Troop B reports; custody may be released or unknown.
Bevier BulletinA second publication of similar MSHP report data, not an independent jail record.
Source before status: A dated arrest report proves that the source reported an arrest. It does not prove the person is still in custody.

Read Adair Arrest Reports Correctly

Start with the report date and the source. The first search result is not always the newest or the most complete one. The same MSHP event often shows up on several publishers. Treat matching rows as one arrest reported twice. They are not two separate arrests. Checking the date on each entry keeps an Adair County arrest log honest.

  1. Choose the source that fits the agency. Use the county roster for present jail custody and an MSHP-based feed for a Highway Patrol arrest report.
  2. Set or note the date span shown by the source. A date-range PDF may cover several prior days.
  3. Compare the person's name, age, city, arrest date, county, and reporting agency where shown.
  4. Read “where held” and release information as reported fields. Confirm current custody directly with the facility.
  5. Use the agency record or Missouri Case.net to follow the charge to the filed case and disposition.

The Atlanta Missourian Adair County arrest filter shows how a secondary publisher presents county-filtered MSHP reports.

What that page displays is a report interface. It is not proof of present custody. It is also not a gallery of people.

For a booking from today that may still be in county custody, use Adair County Arrests Last 24 Hours instead. The current roster and the blotter simply answer different questions.

Note: Keep the publisher, source date, and access date together so a later reader can distinguish the report from a live status check.

Fields in Adair Arrest Blotters

The MSHP-based rows carry arrest-report facts, not a full booking file. The Kirksville Daily Express sample works the same way. It reports city police activity in a dated blotter. Any field may be missing, abbreviated, or copied straight from the underlying report. For a certified or corrected record, the originating agency is still the best route.

Reported fieldMeaning and caution
Name and ageIdentity clues that must be checked together; they are not enough by themselves.
City and countyPlaces stated in the report, which may not be the person's home or current location.
Arrest dateThe reported event date, not necessarily the publication or booking time.
ChargesCharges as reported at arrest, not findings of guilt.
Where heldThe facility reported at that point, subject to release or transfer.
Release informationA reported status detail that should be checked against the agency when timing matters.
PhotoNo mugshot gallery was established in the reviewed newspaper/MSHP report rows.

Never paste in a booking photo from another site when a report row has none. The image may come from a jail intake record. It may be withheld. Or it may not exist publicly at all. Pairing a third-party photo with an official report also invites wrong-person matches. Adair County arrest records are only as reliable as the source behind each detail.

Blotter
A dated summary of reported police activity.
Booking record
The jail's intake and custody file, which is separate from a news report.
Disposition
The court's later resolution of a charge.
Archive
Older retained material, not a promise that every item remains online.

Adair Weekend Arrest Reporting

A multi-day view earns its keep after weekends and holidays. Report filings run on one clock. Newsroom editions, jail processing, and web posting run on their own clocks. Still, no Adair source promises a weekend surge or a Monday batch. Note what each dated source actually says. An observed pattern is not a schedule.

One Kirksville Daily Express sample from May 2023 covered blotter items. The items ran May 3 through May 5. That format recurs in print and PDF. It does not guarantee a daily posting or a fixed weekday. The Atlanta Missourian and Bevier Bulletin post MSHP-based rows as they arrive. They give no stated archive depth or refresh promise.

The Bevier Bulletin Adair arrest filter gives a second view of the same state-report material.

A secondary view like this helps cross-check a dated report. Just remember that matching entries may trace back to the same MSHP source.

Blotter Versus Adair Jail Custody

A blotter can list people who were released. It can also cover people cited, transferred, or held elsewhere after the arrest. JailTracker is narrower. It shows people in current Adair County custody at the time of access. That count includes some held for participating agencies. Neither source alone traces the full path from arrest to court outcome.

QuestionBest starting source
Was an MSHP arrest reported over several days?Dated Adair-filtered MSHP publication, then the originating report.
Is the person shown in county custody now?Adair County Regional Jail's linked JailTracker roster.
What did Kirksville police report?KPD record request or a dated Daily Express blotter, with the official record controlling.
What happened in court?Missouri Case.net or the Adair County Circuit Clerk.

A state prison sentence moves a person off the county roster and into the Missouri Department of Corrections system. Federal custody works through federal systems instead. A blotter line cannot tell you whether someone is still at the Adair jail or has entered prison. It also says nothing about a final sentence.

Note: “Where held” is tied to the report's time; a later release or transfer can make that field stale without making the original report false.

Older Adair Arrest Records

What an agency must keep and what stays online are two different things. Missouri's Sheriff retention schedule, item SHF 006, covers arrest records. It sets five years as the minimum. That floor covers arrest logs, arrest files, arrest registers, fingerprints, and booking sheets. After that window ends, the items face secure destruction. Nothing in that schedule forces online display. Neither JailTracker nor any newspaper must leave five years of Adair County arrests visible online. A single booking can also stick around longer. Active cases can extend the hold. Evidence needs, court matters, holds, or other schedules can extend it too.

Need something older than the blotter shows? Ask the arresting office for the exact document. The Adair County Sheriff's Office takes public-record requests for older arrests. Its form even offers a booking-photo selection. Kirksville Police runs its own request route for KPD reports. Give the name, the rough arrest date, the agency, and the record you want. The custodian can then explain redactions, closures, fees, and what record is actually held.

For deep history, try the Missouri State Archives. It offers Adair County microfilm routes plus a County and Municipal Records Database. You can browse that database by county, office, record type, and date. Name searches are not supported. Not every microfilmed item appears in it either. Treat it as a historical path, not a way to check today's booking status. The Missouri County and Municipal Records Database shows how the archive browse works.

The archive interface helps you find older record series. It still cannot replace an agency request for a modern Adair County arrest file.

Verify Adair Arrest Outcomes

A blotter charge only shows the start of a case. It may be amended, reduced, or dismissed. The first report simply cannot show how things end.

Follow the case: Match the event to Missouri Case.net or the Adair County Circuit Clerk and read the disposition before stating an outcome.

Good notes save time. Keep the source wording, the report date, and the agency. Also separate the arrest report from the jail status and from the court's final result. Two publishers repeating the same MSHP item adds nothing. The official agency record and court docket remain the sound verification path.
